Macsen Brown is the “Speak Out” Challenge! 2017 Champion

With a witty, smart and original speech about the political events of 2016-17, Macsen Brown of Queen’s Park Community College was crowned the “Speak Out” Challenge 2017 champion last night.

Macsen’s speech ‘Where did we go wrong?’ had the audience in stitches, sarcastically describing recent political decisions and where he thinks mistakes were made. He stood confidently in front of the West End’s Cambridge Theatre audience and delivered an original, funny speech.

Macsen was one of 15 finalists speaking yesterday and received £5000 as a winning prize, some of which will go towards his school.

Jack Petchey’s “Speak Out” Challenge! is our flagship programme, and this year we trained 19,242 Year 10 students in public speaking in 480 schools across London and Essex, making it our largest and most successful year to date.

To watch Macsen’s speech, head to the Jack Petchey’s “Speak Out” Challenge! website, where you can find videos of all the finalists and additional information about the programme.
